#NHL 2004 REBUILT LIIGA SERIES#
One of the biggest concerns about EA's NHL series is the arcade-inspired nature of its gameplay. NHL 2004 is far more hard-hitting and grittier than any previous entry in the series. We recently spent some time playing near-complete builds of all three console versions of NHL 2004, and what we've seen thus far has been very impressive. For NHL 2004, EA Sports has gone to great lengths to improve its game by adding lots of depth-both in gameplay and game modes-and much improved graphics. Last year's NHL 2003 was a great game, by all accounts, but with Sega Sports' NHL franchise showing a vast improvement over all of its predecessors, hockey fans began to turn their attention away from EA's franchise. Throughout the years, the franchise has seen its share of ups and downs-with some iterations of the game being praised as the best ever created and others being met with less-than-stellar reactions.
HOWEVER, I have also added a weight to each category to try and give categories that resulted in more NHL players more significance.EA's NHL series has been around longer than any other, dating back to the days of the SNES in the early '90s. Using all of these stats, I create an expected first season for Lehkonen, then at the end of this post, I will give an average for the four categories, which will be my best estimate. Whatever the highest ranking junior team is, I divided all other NHLe values by that. I came up with these values using NHLe values. League weight is a weight that I created compared junior leagues to each other. Most of these should be self explanatory, except league weight and NHL%. The stats I will be looking at are year, name, league, league weight, draft position, games played, goals, assists, points, points per game, and NHL%. For the last category, I looked back forty years. For the first three, I look at all players that fit that in the ten years that happened before he was drafted. For example, the four that I am using this time are: Second Finnish forward to be drafted, Twelfth Left Winger to be drafted, Thirty fourth forward to be drafted, and Left Wingers who were drafted 55th overall. Showing constant improvement, he is a great person to compare to other players drafted in similar circumstances to try and predict what we should expect from him when he does inevitably join the Canadiens for his first NHL season. In the season prior to him being drafted, he racked up 14 goals and 16 assists for a total of 30 points in 45 games with Liiga. He was drafted in the 2013 NHL entry draft in the second round, 55th overall. He's arguably one of our most exciting youngsters and could be playing as soon as next season.
